The beautiful yet unappealing necklace keeps people from turning into animals...
Sadly that's what happened to poor Jazz who was so looking forward to being with her boyfriend that night.
"Mom! What're you doing?" She said while in her own bedroom.
"Nothing just checking out the new woman who is going out to prom. Once you're in prom you'll never forget it. Ever." Her mom was looking down at her which is very creepy. In fact, if I was her I would say something very rude and wrong. Course I'd get slapped but oh well.
"That's nice but can't I get some privacy to myself? Geez."
"Okay dear just make sure to put on that necklace okay sweetie? I wouldn't want to lose you." Her mom said a little too fast.
"What? You mean that there's a tracking device on this thing? Mom I am 18 years old!"
"I never said there was a tracking device.  Just a memoir of you being my baby you know."
"Mom you're weird."
"I'm just say--" Her mom sighed. "I'll leave." She closed the door to her room.
"And you also make no sense." Jazz finished quietly.  Though she was pretty rebellious, Jazz put on the necklace.   She didn't want to though. The necklace was platinum. It was pretty self exclamatory.  A crystal in the middle of a heart connected to a moon.  It was a ugly necklace to think about and go to prom with.
"Mom why? Just why?" She said to herself.  She put on her dress that was purple with lavender scarf.
She was ready to go. Now to wait for her bf.
It took ages to wait for him.
"Where the h-e-l-l is he?" Jazz asked to herself.  It took 50 minutes exactly. The darn thing wasn't to begin until 7:00.
When he came there was the usual. Pictures and talk.  Jazz's mom looked very worried.
"I hope she doesn't hate me for not telling her--" Her thoughts were cut off by her aunt.
"Don't worry she'll be fine. Get the look off your face." Auntie Bonnie looked at the girl Jazz.
"Look at you. Soon before you know it, you're off to college and getting a job. Soon after that you'll be off on your own." Bonnie smiled.  Her aunt on her step dad's side. She doesn't know.... OH wait.
"Bye! See you soon!" Everyone says to the two kids.  The limo pulls off very fast.  So sad that Jazz doesn't know about the necklace...
When they were at the prom, there was virtually no one there.  They sat down for a while on the chairs of the table listening to slow jazz.
"When's anyone going to come?" Jazz wondered. To her it took nearly forever.
"I'm sure someone will come along." Her date Democ said.  His tux was matching with her outfit with purple as well.  Some don't match their clothes for some reason. Not so soon, her worst classmate ever Tasha came in.  She paid no attention to Jazz at all. She was in fact pretending like she was not there.  She made a gay smile at her date and walked off.
Already Jazz was feeling a burning sensation in her.  She couldn't stand her at all.
She thought really deep at this...
"Hey are you okay?" Her friend Tina asked.  She was wearing a dress with red belt.  The dress was white with colorful flowers.
"Hu? Yeah I'm okay Tina.  Where's your date?"
"Gone."
"Really?"
"Yeah, he got in a gang related fight and couldn't get out of it."
"Figures that guy is always fighting and stuff."
Tina looked at the date of Jazz's.. "That's your date?"
"Yes this is Democ. Democ this is..."
"Tina." Tina spoke for herself.  "You're pretty cute. You wanna hit the dance floor once everything's started?"
Democ said "I'm Jazz's date."
Jazz was steadfast and shy to dancing.  As long as nothing freaky happened to her date, she's cool.  It's no problem for Tina to dance with her date.
"You can dance with her if you want.  I can't dance all that well."  Jazz said.
"Okay but to tell you the truth, I can't dance that well either."
"Neither of you can dance?" Tina asked.
They both shook their heads no.
"This gonna be long night." Tina told herself.  The music suddenly became colors of hip hop and remixes.
"Y'all follow me.  I'll show you some moves." Tina said to them.
Jazz, Democ and Tina ran to the dance floor but before  Jazz could make it with them she got tripped by her enemy.  She smiled and walked off leaving Jazz to pick her self up.  She was very upset.  The necklace glowed.  Jazz felt a tug at her heart.  It hurt pretty bad but despite the pain, she shrugged off and made it to the dance floor.  Probably a tug at my chest. She thought.  It was probably an accident.  Everybody's trying to make it to the dance floor. Yeah that's it.  She said to herself trying to calm herself down. No use in trying to be upset over spilled milk.
She made it to the dance floor not realizing that her tiara fell.  She wondered when the slow music would ever come...
Everyone was doing the juke during the remixes of many puerto rican music.  Even Tina.
"Okay that was gross! Not doing it!" Jazz screamed.
"C'mon, Jazz it's fun!  Dance!" Tina screamed back. It was that loud.
The remix seemed to last forever.  The enemy of hers was watching down the balcony.  She eyed the necklace of hers.
That necklace is so pretty yet ugly all at the same time.  I should steal it and add it to my collection.
Tasha thought.  She smiled thinking how her stealing would come to plan.  She eyed Jazz's date. "He's cute.  Maybe I should get him too while I'm at it.  It's not like she's dancing with him."
Tasha came down the stairs and decided to watch the dance.  Not for long.
"Hey, wanna dance?" A boy said.  He looked older than her.
"A little later.  Why don't you go for the girl sitting down watching her date."  Tasha said pointing at Jazz.
"She's not as pretty as you.  I'll catch up to you." The guy said.  He slapped her back and she pretended to like it as Jazz's focus was set on her now.  She thought to herself, What?
The music soon changed to old school vs new school remixes.  Jazz soon found herself singing along not paying attention to where Tasha had flew off to.  She was busy watching people dance.  Her date and Tina sit down as the dance floor got too hot and full.
"When the next song show up I'll be ready." Jazz said.
"You want to dance? Dance!" Tina said.  The music was playing the remix still and the night was still young.
The night seemed to go on forever as the three friends met another young man who was dancing dancing idly by.
They met their teachers and staff and not a minute too soon did Jazz run into Tasha again.
The way that Tasha looked at her made Jazz feel a little freaked out and scared she didn't know why.  The necklace glowed again and the tug got a little worse.  Jazz grabbed her chest.
"What's wrong Jazz?" Tina asked.
"I don't know.  It's been happening twice." Jazz said.  The pain soon lingered and she let go of her chest."
"You might need to chill out for a while." Democ said.
"No I'm fine." Jazz said. "Let's go the dance floor."
The necklace was glowing a low light now.  No one cared to notice.  The three danced but little did they know that Democ was snatched from the dance floor. When the music was done and they were announcing the kings and queens they noticed the group had one missing.
"Where's Democ?" Jazz said looking around.
"I thought he was with you!" Tina screamed.
"I thought he was still dancing!"  Jazz replied.  She ran around the prom floor looking everywhere but in the main entrance.  That's when it hit her.  Maybe he was in the main entrance.
She came towards the area where she saw Tasha and Democ looking out the window.  Tasha almost forced a kiss on him.
That tore it!  Jazz unknowingly walked towards the "couple."
"Hey there Jazz. Like my date?" Tasha said.
Jazz looked at her with angry swollen eyes.
"He's cute you know, he doesn't deserve someone as unbeautiful as you." Tasha taunted.
"Listen, I don't want you.  Nor did I want to really kiss you." He walked towards Jazz and tried to forget that anything ever happened.
"Come on, let's go." Democ said.
Jazz just stood and said, "I'll have her."
"No Jazz you'll get in trouble.  Besides,"  He whispered in her ear, "She's not really worth it."
Tasha heard it and pretended not to care.  "Well, it's such a shame that you only cared for those kind of girls, you could've had something."  She walked over and snatched Jazz's necklace off her neck fast.
"No!" Jazz screamed.  That necklace may have been ugly to look at but it's an antique.  Even her mom wore it at times when days were tough.
The glow on it died away.
Jazz chased after Tasha waving the necklace in the air.
"Jazz!"  Democ screamed.
Tina noticed the commotion.  "What's going on?" She asked screaming.
Everyone soon looked.  Two girls chasing after a necklace.
Jazz soon felt the tug again.  But this time she tried to ignore it and grit her teeth.  Tasha was chased to the top of the balcony.
"Give me back the necklace now!" Jazz screamed.
"Why should I? It's not like it made you more noticeable.  Besides maybe if I have it I could be rich, and maybe get the boy you have too.  Did it give you any luck on the dance floor no." Tasha said.
Jazz growled and sprouted a tail that soon gained fur and stripes.  It popped right out of the back of her dress.  Her teeth soon became sharp like meat eaters.
"Tasha, I need that necklace back.  Mom would be mad if walked out of here without it.  So please give it back or I'll hurt you." Jazz said fighting back her growls.  Anger just can't win unless you have a strategy she thought to herself.
Tasha noticed her teeth.  "Hurt me with what?  Your sparkles or your teeth?"
Everyone started laughing.
Jazz's stomach started to churn and twist and her back legs started to pop outward like an animals forcing her to go down on fours.
Tasha wasn't scared.  She thought Jazz was a werewolf.  So, she laughed like she saw a comedy act when she saw Jazz growling in anger and pain.  Jazz disguised her hurt feelings as anger anyways.  Her eyes however showed that she was in pain.
Democ came in to see and saw his friend in pain. "Jazz are you okay?" Democ said as he was going touch her.  Tasha saw her chance to grab him and leave.
She grabbed his hand and said she's going to be alright.  Jazz accidentally grabbed Democ by the hand biting him.
"Ow!" Democ screamed.
"Sorry about that Democ." Jazz said in pain.  She tried to stand up.  Successfully she did.  She grew orange striped fur all over her body.
Tasha looked and said, "A tiger, you joking right? A tiger? Who said that you looked great enough to be a tiger?"
Jazz growled.  Her eyes becoming green cat like eyes.  She made a growl and bared her teeth.
"Tasha, give me that now!"  She leaped and tired to grab the necklace with her furry hands.  Tasha moved  out the way as fast as possible.  Her hands still on the necklace.
"Some tiger you are." Tasha said.
The hands became padded paws. Front and back, she gained claws.
This is horrible.  Why is this happening to me.  I've always had phantom feelings of changing but now it's really happening.  I should be freaking out.  Jazz thought in her mind.  She looked in anger at Tasha who would never give her back the necklace ever.
Suddenly a car pulled up and it turns out to be Tasha's mom and her relatives.  They ran in with bared teeth too. "Tasha, go home now!"  Her mom ordered.
"Mom?" Tasha said.
"She's an animal masqueraded as a human as well as her other relatives!"
"I knew it already, check out her necklace she's trying to steal back from me!"  Tasha said waving it around. The crescent moon of the necklace dangled.
Her mom was startled.  "Give it to me Tasha."
Tasha threw it to her mother but another paw grabbed it as Jazz tried to leap and catch it.
Jazz turned around and saw Democ striped fur and bared teeth still with his tux on.
"Well this sucks." Tasha said in dismay.
Jazz's snout finally pushed out giving her a big feline look.  She touched her face.  It was all over except for her ears that shifted into a tiger's.
"Jazz here." Democ said giving it to her. "Now make this stop!"
He was growing tiger ears and paws as well.
"I'll try." She said. She put the necklace on as the best as she could. Tasha's parents and her were ready to expose Jazz's secret to outsiders. Everybody freaked and backed away as the two tigers waited for a reaction to turn back. No such luck. The clock stroke twelve and the limo they waited on was back.
"Oh crud." Jazz, Tasha's family and Democ said all at the same time. Jazz slowly turned back to her human self as everything on her went back to reverse.
"Thank goodness! Hey Democ, I changed ba-" Jazz said as she looked at Democ who was still a tiger and now growing a muzzle. She looked at the coat of Tasha's. She stole something I think it's best to steal hers. She ran to grab the coat and suddenly Tasha's mom got a change of heart.
"Wait."
Jazz turned back.
"If you want to go home with your friend without him being noticed, he can wear my daughter's extra coat." She gave Jazz the coat.
"What?" Tasha screamed.
"You'll find out when we get home." Tasha's mom said.
"Come on Democ let's get out of here." Jazz said.
"Your mom has some explaining to do." Democ said angrily. "She keeps everything to herself."
Jazz and Democ ran out of the prom in confusion. He hid himself through the coat while Jazz wondered, Why did Tasha's mom do what she did? Why did she and her friend turn into tigers? Why today?
I think I'm done now.
